About the School of Mechanical Engineering
 
Since its establishment in 1934, the School of Mechanical Engineering has grown to one of the largest and most prestigious schools of engineering in Iran. It has often occupied the top-ranking position among mechanical engineering schools in the country. School of Mechanical Engineering with more than 80 years of educational and research background, strives to train skilled engineers based on the highest national and international standards. It has a total enrollment of 165 PhD, 405 M.Sc. and 525 B.Sc. students. This school admits graduate students in five specialty fields of Thermo-Fluids, Applied Mechanics, and Manufacturing and Production, as well as Biomechanics and Nanotechnology for graduate-level students. 
Home to 59 well-known faculty members, this school plays an important role in conducting applied research and educating students. It has several scientific research centers in Mechatronics and Intelligent Machines, Smart Experimental Mechanics, Optimization of Energy Systems and Turbo-Machinery. The School of Mechanical Engineering is highly ranked in the academic subject of Mechanical Engineering. In 2019, its global ranking in ARWU, also known as Shanghai Ranking, was 101‒150, in QS was 251-300, in US News was 31, and in NTU was 9.
The School of Mechanical Engineering is located in the North Kargar Campus of the University of Tehran. The school has two distinct buildings with over 35,000 square meters of space. Twenty-five laboratories, seven research centers, seven research institutes and centers of excellence, as well as three machine shops, high-performance computing facilities and a library provide a dynamic environment for students to excel in mechanical sciences and engineering skills.
